Dr Crokes B

played 31st Oct 1982

Our team made history last Sunday by winning the O'Sullivan Cup for the first time. This victory, together with the senior team's O'Donoghue Cup victory, gives the club the junior and senior championships in the one year, a feat never achieved by any other club in East Kerry.

The Junior final against Cordal was a hard, uncompromising affair with Cordal applying fierce pressure in the second half. The backbone of this victory was undoubtedly the full-back line of Eamonn Fitzgerald, Mossie Fitzgerald and Enda Ward, who were in superb form throughout.

The half-back line of Connie Doherty, Eugene Ryan and Paudie Mangan were confronted by Cordal's best line, but gave little away. At midfield we never really got going. although the switch of John Clifford to that area brought a marked improvement in the second half.

Des Cahill at full forward was in top form, obviously benefitting from his training on the beaches of Tormolinos. Mike Buckley, Jerry O'Shea and Mike Doody also impressed.

Final score: Dr Crokes 0-9, Cordal 1-2, The man of the match award went to Jerry O'Shea.
