About This Website

My name is Conn O'Sullivan, youngest son of Owen O'Sullivan. This Website is the culmination of over two years research. After Firies won the O'Sullivan Cup in 2000, the team gave the Cup to the O'Sullivan Family during which time I observed that there were only 3 names of the winning teams on the base of the Cup. I tried to find out who the 26 winners were. It led to many days in the local history department of Tralee library, going through the Newspapers on microfilm, week by week to find each year's winners. And it is only now that the research is complete.

Before 2003 there was no complete record of the winners or no visible record that the Cup was associated with the Firies G.A.A. club. So I put together a presentation case with 26 medals and the name of each winning team from 1975 to 2000. My cousin, Ger O'Sullivan, a gifted metal work teacher produced a metal frame in the shape of an O'Sullivan Cup Medal as a centre piece to frame a picture of my father. Gerard Murphy, of Vincent Murphy's shop Castleisland engraved the 28 names of the winners onto the base of the Cup. And on the 12th of May, 2003 the night of the O'Sullivan Cup draw, I asked two friends of mine, Seamus Moynihan and Donal Daly, to present the finished medal case to Jerry Foley, a good friend of my father, and a representative of the Firies Club. Ger Galvin, East Kerry Board Chairman, was also present for the presentation.

I decided to take the information I had researched and share it with the public in the form of this website. It is a work in progress, and if any one has any information to add, or correct, please e-mail me at this address: owenosullivancup@gmail.com
